About Rotary

Rotary International

Rotary is a worldwide organisation of business, professional and community leaders.  Clubs are non-political, non-religious, and open to all cultures, races and creeds. Richly rewarding, Rotary International gives you the opportunity to 'pay it forward' and to have a positive impact wherever you choose. While developing business networking opportunities and building lifelong friendships Rotarians experience personal growth in an organisation that is respected worldwide for its high values and standards
For more one than hundred years, ordinary people around the world have been giving to humanity through Rotary International.
The magic of Rotary is that it allows ordinary people to achieve the most extraordinary things. By using the powerful synergy of one, people unite to achieve exceptional global change. Many ordinary members of Rotary have developed projects that brought significant change to the world.  Around the world there are 1,210,047 Rotarians in 32,774 clubs and 34,000 Rotarians in 1164 clubs in Australia.

Eradication of Polio through Polio Plus

Rotary has set itself the goal of eradicating polio worldwide. Since 1979 Rotary has contributed over $700 million and immunised more than 2 Billion children. In 2007 Bill Gates donated $100m to rotary to help the fight against polio. Since 1985 polio cases have declined by 99%.

ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter, warmth and dignity to people affected by disaster worldwide.
We respond instantly to natural and manmade disasters by delivering boxes of aid to those who are most in need.
Each box supplies an extended family with a tent and lifesaving equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless. The contents are tailored depending on the nature and location of the disaster, with great care taken sourcing every item to ensure it is robust enough to be of lasting value.

The cost of a box is $1,000, including delivery direct to those who need it. Each box bears its own unique number so as a donor you can track your box all the way to its recipient country via the website.

Highly trained ShelterBox Response Teams distribute boxes on the ground, working closely with local organisations, international aid agencies and Rotary clubs worldwide.
